Meet your guide for a day tour, starting with browsing the stalls of Souk El Attarine (spices), Souk Haddadine (blacksmiths), and Souk Smata (slippers). Visit Souk the dyers’ souk ,and visit the Koutoubia Mosque, along the way note the open spaces that extend off of some alleys. These fondouks were once medieval inns that provided travelers and merchants with shelter for themselves and their animals. The hard-to-miss Mosque’s 253 feet (77 m) minaret is the tallest tower built in Marrakech. Relax in the adjoining gardens, before carrying on to Ben Youssef Madrasa. Built in the 16th century, this madrasa once housed students of the nearby mosque. Admire the Moroccan artisanship carved cedar, stucco plaster. Although in the medina will find craftsmen, little shops, hidden vistas, and other gems that are worth exploring. Tonight we’ll enjoy a local fish dish should the catch of the day be tempting.

El Jadida’s 16th-century city, City Portuguese, previously known as Mazagan, is small and in a derelict state. It seems like time has been standing still here while mass tourism, or any tourism outside July and August, have largely overlooked this old city. Enjoy it now before the bulldozers and whitewash painters move in, followed by busloads of tourists.
Today’s City Portuguese is very much a residential place, void of tourist shops and restaurants. In fact, there are hardly any restaurants within the city walls, so best head out to the new town for drinking and dining.
