One of our latest and greatest itineraries, this holiday combines all that
we know, love, and wish to share with visitors to the southern region of
Morocco.
This trip is ideal for those with five to ten days available.
Start from Marrakech by heading south to the lesser visited region of the
Sahara Desert before heading to Taroudant passing by the largest
Argan forest in the world to Agadir, From here you can head over to the
coastal town of Essaouira before returning to Marrakesh .
Departing from Marrakech in the early morning, you’ll embark on a
scenic journey towards Zagora, the gateway to the Sahara Desert,
where we will head towards the Atlas Mountains. Our first port of call is
at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou .
This walled city actually is home to around six Kasbahs and you’ll be
amazed at the ancient feel of the place. After our stop off at the Kasbah
we will head to the city of Ouarzazate . Here you can witness the place
where many Hollywood blockbuster films were shot such as The Living
Daylights, Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, among others, have all
seen the clapperboard in this city .
If the scheduler allows for it, we may also stop off at the Atlas Film
Studios. 8.00-euro entrance fee to the studio .
The drive to Zagora takes us through Daraa Valley ,a lush oasis
stretching along the Draa River , famous for its extensive palm groves
and ancient Kasbahs . The road to Zagora is lined with these striking
fortresses , offering numerous opportunities for exploration and
photography . upon arrival in Zagora where we can check into a local
hotel to relax and refresh after day’s journey .
Today, you’ll head two hours south and then two hours off road to reach
the Erg Chigaga region of the Sahara Desert, this remote region is quite
stunning and rustic. In the afternoon, we go trekking by camels through
the impressive Sahara desert to reach our Berber camp for dinner and
overnight stay in the well-equipped nomad tents or in the bivouac under
the starry sky.
Today, you’d have breakfast and enjoy the view of sunrise above the
dunes and head up to Taroudant through this impressive region of
Morocco.
Prepare yourself for a long drive today that is both diverse and arduous.
For three hours you travel off-road through the ‘badlands’ of Erg
Chigaga, passing the fifty mile long dry lake bed of Lac Iriki,
made famous by the Paris-Dakar rally. At Foum Zguid you stop for
lunch before welcoming a good road that takes you through the Anti-
Atlas, a UNESCO Argan-tree Bioreserve, and finally to Taroudant,
known as the ‘Grandmother of Marrakesh’ because it looks like a smaller
Marrakesh with its surrounding ramparts, and was used briefly as the
country’s capital by the Saadians in the sixteenth century, before they
moved onwards to the Red City .
Today you can start your day by a walking tour through the vibrant
markets to experience local life and shop for traditional crafts, spices,
and textiles. Walk along the ancient city walls for panoramic views and a
sense of the city’s historical significance . Afterwards, embark on a short
drive takes you to Agadir , Morocco’s sunshine capital, boasting 320
days of sun per year. Enjoy the drive through the picturesque
landscapes of the Sous Valley
A day dedicated to cycling, a walking guided tour, or going to the beach.
Visit the Croco park will allow you to discover 325 crocodiles from the
Nile within a magnificent botanical garden .then to one of the best cable
cars in the world , ride from the city of Agadir to the beautiful panoramic
old kasbah of Agadir .

From Agadir, you’ll head to one of Morocco’s most laid back regions,
Essaouira passing by a beautiful Argan forest where you will see the
real goats climbing the Argan trees .
The beach there is also nice for walk, although the wind can strike up at
any time , this is the windy city of Africa. During the windy season, wind
surfers and kite surfers from all over the world come down to enjoy their
best sport.
Today, you’ll return to Marrakech .
